A parent-choice school, Clegern Elementary is a part of Edmond Public Schools without any residential boundaries. Any family living in the EPS district may submit an application for their child/children to attend Clegern. The application period is for two weeks in January. At the end of the application period, a randomized drawing is conducted to fill available classroom space. Clegern is a parent drop-off and pick-up school only. Cougar Care, a before-and-after school program is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Clegern is a small school with a maximum enrollment of 298 students. We are located in an older well-established area of Edmond. Rich in heritage, Clegern has served the community as an elementary school since 1931. Our goal is to provide a sound education that is complimented by Core Knowledge as the common instructional sequence of concepts presented. The Core Knowledge Sequence is a detailed outline of specific content to be taught in science, math, history, geography, language arts and fine arts. A variety of teaching approaches and methods allow us to serve the different learning styles of students. Students at Clegern learn in an environment that fosters cooperation, mutual respect, individual responsibility, success and positive self-concept.
An environment that is warm, caring and supportive, coupled with strong parent involvement gives the patrons and staff of the school the opportunity to say that Clegern is “Edmond’s best kept little secret!”
