Mrs. Diane Clarke began teaching in 1995, so she’s passed the 25th year mark in education. When she was a child in third grade she began dreaming of being an elementary school teacher. Diane grew up as an Army dependent and was able to live in various states as well as in Stuttgart, Germany. This instilled a love of travel, languages, perspectives and cultures. Diane graduated high school in Newport News, VA, and then moved to Oklahoma. She matriculated in 1990 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma State in 1994, then her Master’s Degree from OSU in 1998. Diane added her National Board Certification in 2000, then recertified as a National Board Certified Teacher in 2009 and 2019. Before moving to Edmond, she taught 3rd grade in Stillwater for 17 years. She began teaching GATE classes at Clegern Elementary School in 2012. This has allowed her to pursue her passion–which is to delve into hands-on, open-ended projects which allow students to dig deep into subject matter. Diane is married to Leo; they like to spend their extra time with extended family and traveling.
