Clegern’s 85th anniversary celebration is on Sunday, April 23, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Open House will include guided and self-tours, student-led presentations, special historical artifacts and refreshments.
“We are excited to welcome our Clegern Alumni back to their elementary school,” said Principal Teri Cowden-Draper. “Students will be giving short presentations about the wall murals that represent our enriched Core Knowledge curriculum.”
Established in 1931 as a one-room school house, Clegern now has an enrollment of 298 that includes two classes in every grade level. Clegern is named after Harry Clegern who donated the land to build the school on what used to be a peach orchard.
“The alumni are sure to enjoy seeing all of the updates and improvements, as well as, seeing things that remind them of their elementary years,” said Cowden-Draper. “We look forward to hearing stories and seeing special mementos.”
Clegern would like to invite community members, past students and their parents and retired staff members to the open house. Past students are encouraged to bring photos, yearbooks, or other special items to tell the story of their school days.
